Why January–February Is One of the Best Times to Visit New York City (Broadway Week & More!)
If you’re dreaming of a New York City winter getaway in 2026 (or 2027), January 20 to February 12 is one of the best windows to score unbeatable deals across the city — from Broadway shows to restaurants and hotels.
Broadway Week (Jan 20–Feb 12 2026):
NYC Broadway Week is back for winter 2026, offering special 2-for-1 ticket deals on tons of Broadway shows — meaning you buy one ticket and get one free (effectively around 50% off per ticket when you buy two).
Use the promo code NYCBW250 (Broadway Tickets Link)when booking to unlock these discounted seats on participating shows, which include long-running favourites and exciting new productions. It’s a brilliant way to experience big-name musicals and plays without the usual price tag.
NYC Restaurant Week:
At the same time, Restaurant Week brings prix-fix dining deals to hundreds of the city’s best restaurants. Lunch and dinner menus are typically offered at set prices (around $30, $45 or $60), giving you access to great food at a fraction of the usual cost. Be sure to book reservations early — top spots fill fast!

Cheaper Hotels in February
Winter in New York is generally a slower travel period, so many hotels drop their rates — and during NYC Hotel Week, you can find around 25% off standard room rates at 140+ participating hotels. They say week but it is literally over a month long. Even if a hotel isn't 'participating' you will find they are all very reasonable.
We booked The Empire Hotel in the Upper West Side for our upcoming trip which cost us £378/€438 for 4 nights. That's £47.25/€54.75 pp a night. Crazy good value!
Pro Tips:
-
Book your Broadway Week tickets as soon as they go on sale (early Jan) to secure the best shows and seat locations.
-
Combine Restaurant Week meals with theatre nights for an evening of culture and cuisine on a budget.
-
Hotels are usually cheapest in early February after the January tourism lull — perfect timing for a longer stay.
Whether you’re a theatre lover, foodie, or just want incredible travel value, New York City’s winter lineup makes January and February a surprisingly budget-friendly and exciting time to visit.
